What can you do with a typewriter?

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Write a letter to a friend (everyone loves snail mail)

  • Start a typewritten journal and keep the pages in a binder (use tabs to separate months or years)

  • Type up recipes on notecards (no more looking at your phone with messy kitchen hands)

  • Make typewriter art (check out Kelye Kneeland’s amazing work)

  • Put it on table during a party and let your friends leave you notes (you might be surprised what they say)

  • Try your hand at poetry (it feels different on a typewriter)

  • Write tiny love notes for your special person and hide them around the house (use narrow margins to make neat squares)

  • Start composing your memoirs (you’ll remember more as you type)

  • Enjoy the soothing sound of clacking and the satisfaction of print on paper (and the “ding!” at the end of each line)
